FlōGraft® Therapy

An Overview on FlōGraft® Therapy

Biologic treatment, otherwise known as regenerative medicine, continues to grow in popularity for treating orthopedic and sports injuries. This cutting-edge medical treatment is designed to assist with healing, accelerate recovery and form healthy, healing tissue. A growing sector of biologic treatment is the use of amniotic fluid, which is produced during pregnancy to protect the fetus and is harvested during caesarian birth without any harm to the baby or mother. Over the years, physicians have discovered the many healing benefits of amniotic fluid. Dr. Nikhil Verma, knee surgeon and shoulder specialist serving the Chicago, Westchester, Oak Brook and Hinsdale, Illinois area, offers FlōGraft® amniotic therapy to help assist with accelerated healing.

What is FlōGraft® Therapy?

FlōGraft® is an amniotic fluid-derived allograft produced by Applied Biologics. FlōGraft® is a cryopreserved injectable, which means the cells or tissues are preserved by cooling them below the freezing point of water. FlōGraft® is used to protect and promote healing in an injured area, such as joint pain, strains/sprains, partial thickness tendon tears and soft tissue injuries.

Which Conditions Can Be Treated With FlōGraft® Therapy?

FlōGraft® was developed by Applied Biologics as a soft tissue defect filler that covers and protects areas of inflammation. This biologic treatment can be injected directly at the injury site. FlōGraft® therapy can be used for a number of orthopedic and sports injuries, including:

How is FlōGraft® Created?

The FlōGraft® tissue product is harvested from healthy donors during planned caesarian births without any harm to the baby or mother. All donors are carefully screened to help protect all patients. Donors go through an extensive series of blood tests and medical history reviews to determine if they are an ideal donor. Once the amniotic tissues are harvested, Applied Biologics then tests the tissues for safety and places them in a tissue bank until they are needed for treatment.

What is FlōGraft® Cost?

Cryopreserved FlōGraft® treatments with Dr. Verma is priced at $2,500 per injection. Since FlōGraft® therapy is still considered experimental, insurance does not cover the procedure. As with other regenerative procedures, cash payment is required.
