Dr. Verma participates in the MOR Package Pricing program for ACL Repair.
Condition: Tearing of the anterior cruciate ligament, also know an ACL tear is usually an intense pain, a pop or snap, a loose feeling in the joint and an inability to put weight on the affected limb. However, there are instances in which the extent of the injury is less severe.
Procedure: In order to avoid collateral damage, including meniscus tears and degenerative joint disease in the future, reconstructive surgery should typically be performed. This also provides stability and function in the knee. The price of the procedure reflects MOR knee surgeons using an autograph (the patient’s own tissue usually from the knee cap tendon or the hamstring) for the repair. Should MOR knee surgeons require use of an allograph (from a cadaver) ligament, additional fees will apply. These will be disclosed to you upon scheduling the procedure. In most cases, the surgery is performed using arthroscopic surgery, as opposed to an open incision. Arthroscopic surgery allows the surgeon to visualize the area using a tiny camera inserted through a very small incision. This eliminates a greater risk of complications during and after the operation. The surgery is usually performed under a local anesthetic.
The physician will make tiny tunnels in the bone to pull the new tissue through to replace the old ACL. They then secure it to the bone with screws or other devices. As it heals, the bone tunnels fill in. This secures the new ligament. Post-surgery, the knee is braced for one to four weeks. A patient may have to use crutches in the first week of recovery. MOR knee physicians typically prescribe medication, to help with post-operative pain. An intense but gradual regimen of rehabilitation is typically recommended.
Dr. Verma participates in the MOR Package Pricing program for Knee Arthroscopy
Condition: Knee pain and lack of mobility may result from certain kinds of knee injuries, such as meniscal tears, bone spurs or loose bone fragments, torn ligaments and tendons, joint infections, and scarring or tissue overgrowth within joints.
Procedure: Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to examine and possibly repair some knee injuries. A tiny video camera is used during the procedure to pinpoint conditions, such as diseased or injured tissue and shows the surgeon where to trim damaged tissue or removed bone fragments. The surgeon will make two small incisions, one for inserting the arthroscope (camera) to view inside the knee and the other for inserting surgical equipment to make repairs. Consequently, there is little scarring, blood loss and a shorter recuperation time. Arthroscopy is an outpatient procedure, which means the patient goes home the same day. Physical therapy is often prescribed to help strengthen the muscles around the joint during the recovery process. As much as six months of physical therapy may be required after knee arthroscopy.
Dr. Verma participates in the MOR Package Pricing program for Shoulder Arthroscopy.
Condition: Torn or damaged cartilage, frozen shoulder, torn bicep tendons, shoulder impingement syndrome, and shoulder arthritis are a few shoulder conditions causing shoulder pain and loss of motion impeding a person’s ability to perform routine activities.
Procedure: Shoulder arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure performed by making small incisions into the shoulder and using a fiber optic camera to view the interior of the shoulder joint. The instrument used is called an arthroscope, which is connected to a video monitor in the operating room. Using this procedure, physicians at Midwest Orthopedics at Rush (MOR) view the area in and around the joint to inspect or repair any damaged tissues. A MOR physician may need to make additional small incisions and insert other instruments to fix tears in, tendons, ligaments, or cartilage and remove damaged tissue. Arthroscopy allows for more accurate diagnosis of the shoulder’s condition and precise treatment for many shoulder conditions. It also is used to assess the need for further treatment options and possible future surgical procedures. Most arthroscopic procedures are about an hour in length. Almost all patients can return home the same day as the procedure. It may take several weeks to several months for pain to totally subside and motion to be restored. Physical therapy is recommended to help the patient recover full range of motion.
Dr. Verma participates in the MOR Package Pricing program for Rotator Cuff Repair.
Condition: Rotator cuff injuries stem from falling, wear and tear as we age, pulling and lifting, and repetitive arm activities – especially those done overhead, such as swimming, lifting weights, playing tennis or throwing a baseball.

Dr. Verma participates in the MOR Package Pricing program for Reverse Total Shoulder Replacement
Condition: A number of conditions including a completely torn rotator cuff, severe arthritis, and patients still in pain and with limited mobility who have had shoulder replacement or rotator cuff surgery may be candidates for reverse shoulder replacement surgery.
Procedure: Reverse shoulder replacement surgery uses an artificial device to replace the damaged shoulder joint in a reversed manner – a ball at the shoulder and a socket at the end of the arm.
This is an inpatient procedure that usually takes less than two hours. Patients remain in the hospital for two to three days. A sling will be used to restrict movement for up to six weeks.
Dr. Verma participates in the MOR Package Pricing program for Total Shoulder Replacement
Condition: Total shoulder replacement (also called total shoulder arthroplasty) is often a surgical solution for patients suffering from long-term shoulder pain, severe degenerative arthritis, severe shoulder joint fractures, shoulder surgery failure, or avascular necrosis.
Procedure: During total shoulder replacement surgery damaged material is removed and replaced with an artificial (manmade) joint called a prosthesis.
Patients are given general or regional anesthesia. The shoulder surgeon makes an incision in the front of the patient’s shoulder to expose the damaged joint.
